 DR. STEVEN P. STILES

Born and bred in Brooklyn, N.Y., Dr. Stiles graduated with high honors from the famous Erasmus Hall High School. He then went to Princeton University on scholarship, graduating Magna Cum Laude in Biology. He graduated from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York before completing his internship at the Wadsworth VA Hospital/UCLA program. His ophthalmology residency training was taken at Northwestern University in Chicago. He then served as Lt. Commander in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War era as Chief of Ophthalmology at St. Albans Naval Hospital in Queens, N.Y., where he treated those young soldiers and sailors who were transferred from the war zone to the New York City area with their eye injuries, as well as providing eye care for other enlistees, veterans, and retirees.

Dr. Stiles then moved to California, establishing a private practice in Beverly Hills and Encino in 1971 before consolidating both offices in the present location at the Medical Center of Tarzana where he has been since the building opened in 1975. He served for many years as Chief of Ophthalmology at Tarzana Medical Center, and continues to serve on various hospital committees. As further continuing service to the Community, Dr. Stiles has been an Attending Ophthalmologist at the Jewish Homes for the Ageing for over twenty years.

Over these many years Dr. Stiles has performed thousands of most types of eye surgery, especially cataract and glaucoma procedures and, more recently, the new laser refractive procedures including LASIK, PRK, Astigmatism and the new All-Laser Intra-LASIK with Custom Wave technology. He has been doing laser treatment for Diabetes and other retinal problems since the early 1970s. He also took special training during his residency and afterwards in Cosmetic Eyelid Surgery and has been performing eyelid lifts since the early 1970s as well. Over the past years, Dr. Stiles had been using the laser to perform eyelid lifts, but now he uses the all new Radio-Frequency machine with even better success.

Since 1997, when he established A Laser Beauty Center, he has removed thousands of unwanted tattoos of all colors and sizes with the laser, a procedure which, although painful, fully removes the tattoo without scarring the skin. Under the direction of Sherry Stiles, our nurses have used the Laser to completely remove hair from all areas of the body where hair was not desired, also without scarring and really permanently with our top-of-the-line Light Sheer Diode Laser.

Another aspect of cosmetic procedures is the use of BOTOX Cosmetic to reduce frown lines of the brow and forehead and the crows' feet about the eyes. Also, Dr. Stiles is injecting Restylane, Perlane, Juvederm and Juvederm Plus to fill in those age-related furrows on the side of the nose and mouth. These work just great and the patients are universally very pleased.

Dr. Stiles has marveled at the advances of laser technology and techniques over the years and has seen lasers now aiding all aspects of medical and surgical care. The laser machines get more and more sophisticated each year. As yet, however, lasers are not used to remove cataracts but definitely are used for glaucoma, diabetes, retina and cosmetic procedures.
